PDP will immortalise Anenih – Secondus

The National Chairman of the Peoples Demicractic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has said the party would immortalise the late former Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih.

Secondus who led members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and other stakeholders of the party to commiserate with Anenih’s family on Wednesday in Abuja, said the deceased played key roles to ensure the party remained united and strong while alive.

“The late political leader is not just an elder statesman but a fountain and wisdom who we run to, to get wisdom and advice.

“Anenih’s name cannot be erased from the historical books of Nigeria. When historians write about Nigeria all through the republics, Tony Anenih’s name will be there.

“There are words to describe our great father and leader who among others founded the PDP. He worked tirelessly from 1999 to 2015, he worked hard to groom the PDP,” Secondus said.

He recalled how Anenih located and setup the PDP presidential campaign office popularly called Legacy House, “where he did all the work to return Olusegun Obasanjo, late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan.”

Secondus further disclosed that Anenih was instrumental to PDP’s rebound after its post 2015 crisis, stressing that he willingly gave the party leadership encouragement and strategy which led to the mass return of members into its fold.

“We applied all the strategies and advice and as you can see in the process governors came back to the party. National Assembly members all defected to the party. This was as a result of the advice he gave us and as children we took them and today PDP has become the party of choice for all Nigerians.

“We had wished that God can spare him to enjoy the fruits of his labour, not by any other means but to see the party return to power. We will never forget all the works of Anenih to the PDP.

“He has given so much to the party. We want to participate fully at this point in time. The governors will also do their part and we will give him a befitting burial,” he said.

Responding, Anenih’s son, Tony, who received the delegation commended the PDP leadership, noting that their father was a dedicated party man.
