An Islamic women group under the auspices of Sisters of Jannah Kano zone has donated 150 school bags containing study materials to pupils of Tukuntawa Special Primary School in Kano Municipal local government area.
Speaking to newsmen during the distribution at the primary school premises, Sisters of Jannah state coordinator Malama Rukayat Olabisi Olawale stated that, the platform was formed through social media where women with like minds have decided to extend their union beyond social networking to rendering assistance to the less privileged people in the society.
She added that, since inception, the group has been rendering assistance to pupils in public schools, less privileged in the hospitals as well as assisting members. According to her, the platform has observed that pupils in most public schools lack the basic study materials required hence the decision to donate the materials.
“This is something we started in the social media and as I speak to you we have grown to have zones as well as national body. Our major concern is to see how we can positively touch people’s lives in the mall way we can. We tasked ourselves to finance our activities with the sole aim of easing the tension especially at critical periods,” Malama Rukayat said.
