Governor Abdullaziz Yari of Zamfara state on Tuesday rewarded two communities and a driver with N4million for recovering four AK47 rifles from armed bandits.
It will be recalled that the governor had last week promised a sum of N1million each for any individual or group of individuals that summons the courage to arrest armed bandits and recover AK47 rifles from them.
Also, he had promised to recruit 8,500 members of civilian JTF drawn from the 17 emirate councils to compliment the effort of other security operatives to curb the menace of armed banditry and kidnappings in the state.
The communities of Matuzgi and Mallamai in Talata Mafara and Maradun local government areas were given N1million each while the driver of a Golf car received N2million for knocking to death and recovering two rifles from two armed bandits.
Presenting the cash to representatives of the communities and the driver, the state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Dankande Gamji, said the gesture would be sustained.
“If any ne is able to recover 100 rifles, N100 million would be given to him and there would be no doubt about it,” he added.
