About nine cases of Circulating Vaccine Derived Polio Virus type 2 (cVDPV2) have been identified in four local governments areas of Katsina State.
Deputy Governor Mannir Yakubu, who is also the chairman of the state task force on immunisation and polio eradication, named the council areas as Baure, Daura, Zango and Sandamu.
He said all the cases had been investigated and solutions were being proffered.
“I have as well been briefed that another round of state wide Immunisation Polio Days (IPD) have been planned for next month to further prevent the spread of polio and boost the immunity of children.
”Counterpart funds for both state and 34 LGA’s for immunization services for the last quarter have already been released so that all scheduled activities during IPD and routine immunization would be conducted as at when due without any hitch,” he said.
