The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Yobe chapter has called on its members to disregard government’s directives of “no work, no pay” and prepare for an indefinite strike.
Yobe State NLC chairman, Comrade Lawan Ibrahim, who made the call on Tuesday after a rally in Damaturu, said they would commence an indefinite strike on November 6, 2018 to push for their demand of new minimum wage.
He said the body would continue to mobilise its member to shut down all sectors of the country if government did not approved the N30,000 minimum wage.
He said the September 26 strike to force the government implement the minimum wage was suspended to allow the government and tripartite committee to complete its assignment.
“But the deliberation still remains inconclusive. That is why we would embark on an indefinite strike,” he said.
