Councillors elected on the platform of the APC in Ogun State were yesterday locked in an emergency meeting over the reported backing they gave an oil magnate, Dapo Abiodun, as the party’s governorship candidate in the state.

The councilors, who spoke one after the other at the meeting which took place at Obas Conference Hall, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, described as daylight robbery, the National Working Committee (NWC’s) ratification of Abiodun’s candidature.

Abiodun is at loggerheads with Adekunle Akinlade over the party’s ticket.

Their denial came as Ogun State Youth Forum, yesterday,  joined the list of protesters demanding recognition of Akinlade, who is the anointed candidate of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, as the official candidate of the party.

Speaking at the meeting, the House Leader of Remo North Local Government Area Legislative Council, Jide Opafola, demanded pictorial evidence of 276 councillors who reportedly declared support for Abiodun.
