A chairmanship hopeful of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Bayelsa State, Comrade Samuel Numonengi, has outlined a 14-point action plan to reposition the union and enhance productivity of journalists in the state.
Numonengi, a staff of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) reeled out the action plans on Thursday, when he met with the state chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) at the NUJ press centre in Yenagoa ahead of next week’s election of the union in the state.
The chairmanship hopeful listed his 14-point agenda to include, reactivating the internet Wi-fi network at the press centre for journalists to send stories with ease, training and retraining of journalists to boost their capacity, annual awards and public lectures for journalists and reactivation of the NUJ library project.
He also promised to float media cooperative saving and loans scheme, control flooding at the press centre among other things.
Earlier, the chairman of SWAN, Bayelsa State chapter, Mr Alambo Datonye, urged eventual winner of the election in the state to work towards enhancing the welfare of members.
