A former governor of Bayelsa State and a chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, Chief Timipre Sylva, has denied dumping the party for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as rumoured earlier in the week.
Sylva was the governor of the state between 2008 to 2012 on the platform of PDP but joined the APC since 2014 upon the formation of the party.
He said that he remained a loyal and committed mrmber of APC, who has never contemplate jumping ship to PDP.
His media assistant, Mr Julius Bokoru, in a statement in Yenagoa on Thursday, said his boss can never defect to a floundering and failing party like PDP.
He said: “Ordinarily, His Excellency, Chief Timipre Sylva would have stepped over this most mundane rumour cooked by the basest of minds but for his teeming supporters, members of the All Progressives Congress and the good people of Bayelsa State whom this rumour is aimed at, let it be established that Sylva is firmly of the APC and nurses no plan to leave the party to any other party.
“PDP is floundering and churning in the throes of its last days. Chief Sylva cannot leave the APC, a party he has joined in building, in both state and national, to the very top of political and governmental efficiency. This rumour further prove that the PDP-led government in Bayelsa State is barren of ideas, even in perpetrating their evil.”
