Missing Gen. Alkali: Police declare district head, 7 others wanted

The Plateau State Police Command has declared the District Head of Dura in Du district of Plateau’s Jos South local government area and seven others wanted in connection with the disappearance of the former Chief of Administration, Army Headquarters, Major General Idris Alkali.

This comes exactly one week after the Nigerian Army handed over 13 suspects to the police including a female for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Retired General Alkali has been missing since September 3 and his black Toyota Corolla vehicle with a Kwara State registration number MUN 670 AA had been pulled from an old mining pond around Dura-Du on September 29.

However, the police on Wednesday night mailed a statement containing eight wanted suspects including Yakubu Rap, 52, the District Head of Dura who according to the statement is dark in complexion, 1.66 meters tall, bald and has no tribal marks.

Other suspects include Chuwang Samuel aka Morinho, 28, a panel beater, tall, dark in complexion and has no tribal marks on his face; Nyam Samuel aka Soft Touch, 25, a panel beater, tall and dark in complexion with no tribal marks; Mathew Wrang aka Amesco, 27, tall, dark in complexion and has an Adam apple; Pam Gyang Dung aka Boss, 53, a farmer and miner, tall, dark in complexion with an upper gap tooth; and Chuwang Istifanus Pwajok aka Tifa, 46, a surveyor and Business man, tall, light in complexion and has no tribal marks.

Also included in the list are; Timothy Chuan, 26, a Tipper driver and sand vendor who is tall and light in complexion and has no tribal marks; and Moses Gyang aka Boss, 25, tall, light in complexion and keeps an Afro hair cut.

The statement which was signed by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tyopev Terna stated that “preliminary investigations into the case of missing Major General IM Alkali (retired) revealed that the following suspects masterminded the abduction, assault and caused the disappearance of the missing General.”

It described all suspects to be Berom by tribe and speak Berom, Hausa and English fluently and urged anyone with information about the suspects to report to the nearest police station.
