Jema’a LG chairman calls for calm, vigilance

Mr Danjuma Averik The Chairman of Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State, has urged residents of the area to be calm, prayerful and vigilant in the light of the civil unrest witnessed in parts of the State.

Averik, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kafanchan, said that the people should be more tolerable and cautious of undesirable elements that might want to take advantage of the unfortunate situation to inflict harm on innocent persons.

He said proactive measures had since been taken in the area following the imposition of the curfew in Kaduna and its, environs to guard against reprisals and reactions that would breach public peace.

“We have mobilised security agents to be on patrol, especially at the border areas, to guard against reprisals and any form of reactions.

“We urge the people not to panic as routine patrols are ongoing especially in the flashpoint areas within Kafanchan metropolis and environs.

“The army commander, in this regard, had a meeting with a group of youths in flashpoint areas in Kafanchan on the need to maintain peace,” he said.

The chairman said an emergency security meeting comprising CAN and the JNI leaders, including representatives of the traditional institution had been helpful in the propagation of the gospel of peace.
