Gandujegate: Lawmakers urged to be cautious

The seven-man Committee set up by the Kano State House of Assembly to investigate the authenticity of otherwise of the video clip that portrayed Governor Abdullahi Ganduje allegedly receiving bribe from a contractor has been urged to temper justice with caution.

Similarly, personnel of security agencies have been advised to ensure adequate security to the Editor of Daily Nigeria, Jafar Jafar, who is expected to appear before the committee on Thursday.

A Kano-based businessman and politician, Umar Yusuf Fantiya made the plea yesterday in a chat with Daily Trust in Kano.

Fantiya said police and personnel of other security agencies should be vigilant during the sitting so that thugs could not take the advantage to storm the venue and launch attack on the editor.

He said, “I am afraid that something might have happen to Jafar Jafar. We have recently heard what happened to the Saudi/American citizen  journalist, Jamaal Kashoogi who was assassinated during invitation by the security agency in Saudi Arabia.”

Jafar, a publisher of an online newspaper Daily Nigeria recently released a video clip portraying Ganduje allegedly collecting kickback of 5m dollars in foreign currency from an unidentified contractor.
