The Police in Benue State have arrested seven people on the suspicion of armed robbery along Aliade road in Gwer East Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesman of the Benue command, DSP Moses Yamu, on Tuesday, said that following an armed robbery incident at Mbamande junction Ikpayongo in Aliade, the FSARS personnel arrested the suspects, based on a reliable information.
He gave their names as Terdoo Nyamtaver, 27, Atondu Nyam, 20, Takari Anja, 43, Terkimbi Akighir, 35, Msughter Abe alias Don shayo, 21 and Msughter Tyosula alias Sunny, 22, all of Mba-Amande village of Gwer East LGA.
Yamu explained that upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to have robbed one Theresa Tarnongu and Alex Awuna in a Toyota Corolla car with registration number AA 305 RNG, of the sum of N250,000 using cutlasses and other dangerous weapons on a blockade they mounted near Mbamande junction, Ikpayongor-Aliade road.
The police spokesman added that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
