Armed personnel of the National Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Monday, shot dead a middle aged man in Kano State.
The incident occurred at the Kano Municipal office of the agency when some angry youth stormed the office in protest against arrest of a suspected drug addict by the operatives.
The state’s Commandant of the agency, Hamza Umar confirmed the incident.
He said though he was out of the state for an official engagement, he was informed about the unfortunate incident.
He said, “I was informed that my boys have arrested some addicts and in the process of taking them to the office, one of them escaped and he went and mobilised his colleagues and attempted to attack my boys.
“In the process, one of the youth was shot and subsequently died. I will return to Kano today [Monday] and launch a thorough investigation into the matter.”
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, SP Magaji Musa said police had returned normalcy to the area.
