The Jigawa State governor, Mohammad Badaru Abubakar, has picked his Commissioner for Finance, Umaru Namadi, as running mate in the 2019 general election, Daily Trust gathered.
The nomination of Namadi to replace the present deputy governor, Barrister Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, was not unconnected to the fact that Hadejia had served in same capacity for two terms though, under different governors, it was gathered.
Hadejia, who is at present gunning for Jigawa North-east senatorial district position under the All Progressive Congress (APC), was deputy governor under former governor Saminu Turaki and Badaru.
Daily Trust on Sunday learnt that Namadi was nominated yesterday after a marathon meeting that involved the ruling party, APC and other critical stakeholders in the state.
At the time of filling this report, there was no official statement from either the party or the state governor in respect to that effect.
But the spokesperson to Governor Badaru, Bello Zaki, confirmed the nomination of Namadi as the running mate to the governor in next year’s general election.
