The Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Wednesday announced Otunba Rotimi Paseda as party’s gubernatorial candidate for next year’s election in Ogun State.
The State Party Chairman, Kunle Majekodunmi, announced this at a press conference held at the party secretariat , Abeokuta on Wednesday.
Majekodunmi stated that the election of Paseda as the party’s flagbearer in the 2019 elections was done through direct primaries system.
The party chairman noted that Paseda defeated two other aspirants, Opeyemi Agbaje and Sina Kawonise to emerge the winner.
With Paseda’s emergence, Majekodunmi said SDP, as third force in the state, “is ready to lift Ogun from dungeon of incompetence and corruption” if elected in 2019.
In his acceptance speech, Paseda said his government’s focal points would be to provide equitable, good and an all inclusive governance that was sustainable for the greatest number of the people of the state.
He promised to immediately embark on the full restoration of the glory of Ogun State and make the people the cornerstone of his government and also make the state self-sufficient and industrial hub of the nation.
Paseda, represented by his media aide, Michael Ogunsiji, added that his government would provide free and quality education, healthcare system, gainful employment opportunities for the youths and urban/rural renewal and agricultural scheme.
“With the confidence you have reposed on me with this mandate, I will not take you for granted, I will cherish it for the rest of my life, but more importantly, like I’ve always said, I will remain committed.
” I will keep an inclusive government, I will be responsible, integrity will not run far from me and I will not do things that in any form would make you to begin to doubt my capacity or capability,” he said.
