The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed the reports of the various Electoral Committees and adopted 24 party governorship candidates for the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
The ratification of the candidacy of the 24 candidates at its meeting held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, followed the APC Governorship Primaries held across the country.
Those cleared to contest 2019 governorship elections so far in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by the APC acting National Publicity Secretary Mr Yekini Nabena were Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Kano; Mohammed Abubakar, Bauchi; Simon Lalong, Plateau; Nasir El-Rufai, Kaduna; Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Jigawa; Ahmed Aliyu, Sokoto; Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Kebbi; Aminu Bello Masari, Katsina; Abubakar Sani Bello, Niger; Babagana Umara-Zulum, Borno; Mai Mala Buni, Yobe;and Abubakar A. Sule, Nasarawa State.
Others are Emmanuel Jimme, Benue; Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos; Tonye Cole, Rivers; Uche Ogah, Abia; Nsima Ekere, Akwa Ibom; Adebayo Adelabu, Oyo; Dapo Abiodun, Ogun; Great Ogboru, Delta; Owan Enoh, Cross River; Inuwa Yahaya, Gombe; Sunny Ogboji, Ebonyi; and Sani Abubakar Danladi, Taraba State.
Yesterday, the APC NWC officially announced Mr. Dapo Abiodun as winner of the party’s Ogun State governorship primaries. Abiodun won the Primary Election after scoring 102,305 votes.
Other aspirants in the primary were Jimi Lawal who scored 51,153; Kunle Akinlade – 23, 443; Bimbo Ashiru – 29, 764; Senator Adegbenga Kaka – 17, 771, and Abayomi Semako Koroto who polled 9, 610.
The APC is currently working on the Governorship Primaries in Zamfara, Adamawa, Imo, Enugu, and Kwara States.
