A Kaduna High Court has adjourned sitting on the ruling for bail application involving the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife Zeenatu to November 7th, 2018 following the presence of the Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo in Kaduna.
Addressing newsmen, the Kaduna state Director, Public Prosecution, Barrister Dari Bayero explained that the case had to be adjourned because the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is visiting Kaduna state and there is not enough security for the two incidences.
The Vice President was in Kaduna to witness the convocation ceremony of 65 Regular Course (Army) and 66 Regular Course (Navy and Airforce) at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
“The court has adjourned the case to the 7th of November when all the defendants will be present for hearing before the court. We could not bring Zakzaky to court because of security concern, you know the vice president is visiting Kaduna, security is over stretched,” said Bayero.
Dari said as a result of this, the prosecution asked that the presence of the defendant be excused for the proceedings and the court graciously accepted.
On the 3rd and 4th respondents who were also absent from the court, Dari said that a bench warrant had been given by the court for their arrest and they are going to ensure that they are brought before the court.
