A former Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam and a serving House of Representatives member, Orker Jev, have emerged senatorial candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in their respective districts in the state.
Suswam was returned unopposed for the Benue north east senatorial district after delegates affirmed him with their votes at the exercise held in Kastina-Ala Local Government Area of the state.
While Jev scored 591 votes to beat his closet challenger, Chief Mike Mku who got 333 votes as Gideon Nyom had seven votes and a female contender, Georgina Ngufan Gbayan, scored only one vote.
Meanwhile The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its primary election for the Benue south senatorial district indefinitely.
The stage was earlier set for the exercise before the national committee for the conduct of the primaries returned to Makurdi with the electoral materials.
So far, no reason had been given for the postponement of the exercise.
Daily Trust however, gathered that a new date for the exercise would be announced later.
