Governorship primaries: Ogun APC hits Oshiomhole, accuses him of desperation

* asks Buhari to call him to order

The last may not have been heard over the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State over the rescheduled governorship primaries, as the state leadership of the party came hard on the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, saying he plans to impose a candidate on Ogun indigenes.

In a live broadcast addressed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa on Tuesday night, the party asked President Muhammadu Buhari to call Oshiomhole to order.

Adeoluwa expressed dismay that the national leadership of the party had shifted the primaries three times, even as he vowed that the APC in the state would not participate in any further primaries unless a sacrosanct date is fixed.

He added that the national team must write the state on the date, mode of primaries and shun the alleged plans to use ballot papers for the primaries.

Adeoluwa also hinted that the state chapter of APC conducted its governorship primaries on Tuesday, saying Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s choice candidate, Adekunle Akinlade will win “100 times if the primaries is conducted.”

A meeting held with the six governorship aspirants of the party on Monday night by Muhammad Indabawa-led national panel ended amidst violence and sporadic gunshots by suspected political thugs.

Our correspondent recalls that the party had been polarised following adoption of Akinlade as a consensus candidate.

Adeoluwa, in his blistering remarks, said “With all due respect, we are not known for reckless, irresponsible allegation but it appears a carefully written script is being directed by the National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

“We have learnt on good authority that the national headquarters of APC is determined and desperate to force a particular candidate on the people of Ogun state. We will be ready for them, but we shall do nothing unlawful.

“In Ogun state, we shall not participate in any primary unless and until the National Working Committee will specifically write to us on a date that will not shift and agree on the mode of primary.

“We must sincerely call on our leader President Muhammadu Buhari to please call Comrade Oshiomole to order. We would not allow anybody to take us for granted.

“We hope that the whole of our country including well meaning people everywhere will help to beg Comrade Adams Oshiomhole not to set Ogun state on fire.”
