About 3, 100 delegates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau state have affirmed Governor Simon Lalong as the governorship candidate of the party in 2019.
The party made the affirmation during its governoship primary held at Crest Hotel,in Jos yesterday.
Before the affirmation, the Speaker of the Plateau state House of Assembly, Joshua Madaki, moved a motion that the affirmation be done through “voice vote” due to violence that rocked the state capital on Sunday to allow delegates and other party supporters go back to their various destinations on time.
The former Plateau State Deputy Governor and the APC Board of Trustees (BoT) member, Pauline Tallen, seconded the motion.
While conducting the voice vote, the Chairman, Electoral Committee, Olugbenga Onaolapo asked the delegates as to whether they agreed to adopt Lalong as the sole candidate of the party, which they said “yes”.
Lalong thanked the delegates and the leadership of the party for giving him the mandate to represent the party in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
