The Borno State’s chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is running a parallel primary election to elect the preferred candidate for the forthcoming 2019 governorship election in the state.
Our Correspondent who visited venues of the two primaries in Maiduguri metropolis there are two factions of the party in the state.
A former minister of state for Power, and governorship aspirant Bar. Mohammed Wakil and his counterpart Dr. Abba Kyari both addressed newsmen at Party Secretariat, saying that the Usman Baderi-led faction of the party was legally recognised.
There was no INEC official and National body of the Party at the party Secretariat to conduct the election.
There are thousands of party members waiting for the officials to conduct the elections at 3:15pm.
Meanwhile, the other faction held their primary at the Forsham Event Center in Maiduguri.
The lone contestant Hon. Mohammed Iman also claimed to be recognized by PDP national headquarters.
The Chairman of the factions of the party, Alhaji Zanna Gadama claimed that:
“I will like to tell that we have only one PDP in Borno state. The national Secretariat body of the party recognized us. So anyone claiming that he is the Chairman is deceiving himself.”
