Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that the Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara used and dumped the party after achieving his aim.
The party made the allegations at a press conference in Bauchi on Tuesday.
The state APC legal adviser, Barrister Rabiu Abubakar said that Dogara left the party after his failed bid to get an automatic ticket to return to the National Assembly in 2019.
“On Thursday 20th September 2018, we witnessed the formal defection of Rt Hon. Yakubu Dogara from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on the pretext that the former has failed to fulfill a single promise it made to the people of Bauchi State and Nigerians,”he said.
Abubakar further alleged that it is not the first time the Speaker used a party to win election and dumped it later.
He recalled that in 2014, Dogara defected from the PDP to APC when he was allegedly denied an automatic ticket to return to the House of Representatives for the third time.
“The same episode is now repeating itself with an erroneous thought that we might have forgotten the last experience. Coincidentally, while trying to justify his 2014 defection to APC just as he is now doing, he accused PDP of failure and injustice among other reasons, what an irony,” he added.
