Three highway Armed robbery suspects have been shot dead by operatives of the Ogun Police Command after a 30-minute gun duel with members of a gang at Fidiwo along Lagos/Ibadan expressway at the weekend.
The Command’s Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed this in a statement made available to journalists yesterday in Abeokuta.
Oyeyemi said the police men at Owode-Egba Divisional Headquarters had received a distress call from a popular bush meat seller on the operation of the hoodlums in the area.
The Divisional Police Office (DPO) at Owode-Egba Division, Sheu Alao was said to have led his Anti robbery team to the scene “where they engaged the hoodlums in gun duel which lasted for about 30 minutes.”
The Police publicist said at the end of the encounter, three members of the syndicate were gunned down while others “escaped into the nearby bush with gunshot wound.”
Some of items recovered, according to him, one locally made single barrel gun, one shot double barrel gun, one single barrel muzzle loading gun, one live cartridge, a wrist watch belonging to the victim of the attack and cash sum of N10,220.
