Osun Decides: INEC staff confessed his boss ordered him to destroy authentic Ayedaade LG’s poll result

A staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State, Salawu Mutiu Kolawole on Sunday told journalists that his boss ordered him to destroy the election result of Ayedaade Local Government area of the state.

This confession corroborated the claim of the agent of PDP, Mr Dele Adeleke who explained that the result recorded and pasted on the wall at Ayedaade local government collection center was different from the one presented at the INEC office in Osogbo.

Some INEC officials cautioned Salawu from speaking with journalists as policemen moved to douse the tension. Salawu was then ushered into one of the offices.

In an exclusive chat with Daily Trust, the Chairman of PDP in the state, Mr Soji Adagunodo said there were attempts to manipulate the results of the election in favour of APC.

The PDP Chairman claimed that the results attributed to APC in five local government areas including Olorunda, Osogbo, Ife East, Ilesa East and Boripe LGs were inflated in favour of APC.

Adagunodo noted that the attention of INEC has been called to the discrepancies adding that the electoral body has accepted that there were errors in Olorunda LG.

He said even as it stands now, the PDP candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke is leading with 300 votes and that the figures will go up when necessary corrections are made.

Meanwhile, there is palpable tension in Osogbo, the state capital as residents were anxious to know the outcome of the election.
