Jose Mourinho is set to dump Alexis Sanchez and hand Marcus Rashford just his second start of the season in Manchester United’s opening Champions League match away to Young Boys.
The England forward, who netted in both of his country’s matches during the international break against Spain and Switzerland, last started for United on the opening day of the season against Leicester City.
Mourinho has been forced to defend his sparing use of the 20-year-old, but according to The Mirror, Rashford will return to the staring XI on Wednesday.
The youngster impressed his manager while on England duty, and Mourinho is keen to rotate his squad.
Rashford is currently serving a three-game domestic ban after being sent off against Burnley, but he is free to play in the Champions League.
The player expected to make way is Sanchez, who has endured a frustrating start to the new season.
The Chilean, whose pre-season was interrupted by visa issues before being dealt an injury blow at the start of the campaign, is yet to score this season.
Mourinho believes Rashford’s pace could be a major asset against Young Boys, especially on the Stade de Suisse’s artificial pitch.
Wednesday’s game also represents Rashford’s only opportunity for game time until the end of the month, with the youngster suspended against Wolves and Derby County.
