Champions League: We know how to deal with Neymar – Liverpool

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson is well aware of Neymar’s reputation for theatrics on the football pitch.

The defender won’t be drawn into a diving war and admits Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir will ultimately decide if the Brazilian’s tactics pay off.

Neymar was rested for Paris St-Germain’s 4-0 win over Saint-Etienne on Friday night.

But the forward was shown a yellow card for diving in his side’s previous game, a 4-2 win over Nimes.

And Robertson has highlighted the issue ahead of Liverpool’s opening Champions League game with the Ligue 1 champions.

“His skills speak for themselves,” the defender said. “Yeah, people say he goes down too easily, but that’s not up to us.

“It’s up to the referee to decide. We’ll stay away from that.

“For us, we’ve got to concentrate on the qualities.

“Unfortunately for us, he has a lot of them. It’s one player that we’ll have to be wary of.

“The bad thing for us is that they’ve got quite a lot of players that we’ll have to be wary of.

“On another side, a good thing for us is that we’ve got a lot of players that can cause them problems.”
