Following the partial closure of the runway at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 2200hours on Wednesday, due to an incident involving a Gulfstream 4 aircraft being operated by Skybird, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has now reopened the runway to take arrivals and departures.
The Skybird plane overshot the runway while landing and consequently got stuck on the Runway End Safety Area (RESA), our correspondent learnt.
Due to the incident, many international flights were diverted to Kano and Kaduna.
But the runway has now been reopened as of the time of filing this report.
FAAN in a statement signed by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, assured airlines and passengers that the airport is safe for normal operations.
It added that FAAN is committed to her core values of safety, security and comfort.
