About three soldiers were reportedly being killed by unidentified gunmen during an operation in Barikin Ladi local government area of Plateau state.
The soldiers before their demise were attached to Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) – a multi-security taskforce, saddled with the responsibility of restoring and maintaining peace in the state.
The Commander, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Major General Augustine Agundu confirmed the killing to Journalists at the heaquarters of the the command after an emergency meeting with stakeholders on Saturday.
However, Maj- Gen. Agundu did not specifically mention the names of the soldiers killed and the area where they were killed.
The commander said categorically that the situation in the Plateau is becoming more precarious than expected since the unfortunate incident on June this year, with all the effort being made to bring understanding, but the situation is getting out of hand.
“I have lost three men. They were killed in action as result of circle of violence that resurfaced again. The worst of it is the proliferation of arms on the Plateau that is out of magnitude. There is no nation where you used crime to fight crime,” he said.
