Yobe state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, said his nomination for gubernatorial candidate, Mai-mala Buni, does not stop people from obtaining forms to aspire for the position.
The governor who spoke at a youths summit program on good governance in Damaturu, said the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state will hold primaries for all the elective positions base on the indirect options adopted in the state.
“People aspiring for the gubernatorial position or any other position are not foreclosed to obtain forms, including the Senate seat I was nominated for. Because, they have the right to do so just as we have the right not to elect them,” he said.
Gaidam said that the choice he made was the outcome of mandate given to him by the APC stakeholders and they are prepared to defeat anybody at the primary election.
“We invested huge amount of resources in developing this state and we will not allow it to go down the drain. I worked in defunct Borno and now Yobe state. I know everyone, that is why I make this choice for the state,” he said.
Gaidam reiterated his readiness to defeat whoever decided to slug it out with him for the Senate seat of Yobe east Federal constituency.
“To be frank, I am not like those legislatures sleeping in the chamber. I don’t sleep while discharging my duty,” he added.
APC stakeholders in the state have mandated the outgoing governor to nominate his successor, a position that did not go down with some aspirants that had obtained forms for various elective positions.
Among those that obtained the forms are the serving senator, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, representing the outgoing governor’s zone, Yobe East; Alhaji Ibrahim Bomoi; Alhaji Sidi Yakubu karasuwa and Alhaji Aji Kolomi, for gubernatorial tickets.
