2019 polls: Nigeria is at crossroad, says Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki has said Nigeria is currently at a crossroad, adding that the nation is even more divided now ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Senator Saraki, who spoke on Thursday while addressing delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party’s secretariat in Enugu, also  expressed unhappiness about the high level of youth unemployment in the country.

“You cannot give what you do not have; what you don’t have, you cannot give. Nigeria is at a crossroad, it is very divided,” he said.

He called on PDP members in the state to support him to emerge victorious during the primaries of the party and also help him to actualize his presidential ambition.

Saraki assured that his decision to contest for the President has never been a personal ambition, noting that Nigeria needs to change the leadership of the executive.

He added that Nigeria needs a president that will be youth-friendly, saying if he becomes Nigeria’s president, he would enable many states become Asian Tigers particularly Enugu State.

Saraki, however, expressed delight that despite what he and his deputy have been passing through in their efforts to ensure that the “right thing is done,” the present Senate has cared for the people.

He said “we all have a project to change the present leadership of this country. We are all concerned about security of lives.”
