Ogun State Government says it has commenced the construction of a world class international airport to take advantage of the benefits derivable from air transportation sub-sector.
The state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, stated this in a goodwill message at the Half Year 2018 Performance Review Meeting of the Directorate of Finance and Account, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in Abeokuta.
Amosun, who was represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Adewale Oshinowo, explained that the airport when completed, would help the State maximise its potentials as the investment hub of the country and the gateway to the West Africa sub-region.
The governor noted that improving the service delivery of FAAN, which was an integral unit of the nation’s transportation sector, would have a multiplier effects on the socio-economic development of the country.
“It is important that the Directorate of Finance and Accounts of FAAN updates its knowledge, skills and attitude, to cope with the complexities of financing and accounting techniques, for effective and efficient control,’’ he said.
