Stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Yobe state have mandated Governor Ibrahim Gaidam to nominate his successor and and they endorsed him to contest the Senate seat of Yobe East Federal Constituency in the 2019 general election.
The decision was taken at the stakeholders meeting organized by the party and presided over by the state deputy governor, Engr Abubakar D Ali, at the government house, Damaturu.
The stateholders noted that they were mandated to give discretion to the governor considering his foresight and the development strides he has brought to the state.
The House of representative member, (APC, Bade/Jakusko) Honourable Yau Galadima, who moved the motion on resolved to allowed governor Gaidam to present his successor said they were satisfied with his leadership style and ability to make a right choice.
“We are mandating Governor Gaidam to single-handedly select a gubernatorial candidate for the party. We are satisfied with all the developmental projects he has done for the state and we want him to present one that would continue with all the good work” he said.
The APC stakeholders also resolved to adopt consensus and where necessary indirect mode of nominating candidate to all other elective positions under the party.
Also, the motion followed the endorsement of the governor for the Senate seat of Yobe East, by Honorable Goni Bukar Lawan, representing Gaidam/Bursari/Yunisari federal constituency.
“Governor Gaidams leadership style and development project are unprecedented, we want him to reprwsent us in the senate and continue helping the state”, he said.
Also, in the meeting, the party unanimously adopted president Muhammadu Buhari as the party candidate in the forthcoming 2019 presidential election.
Those in attendance are the Senate leader, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan; State minister for foreign affairs, Khadija Bukar Abba; four out 5 house of representative members; Yobe State House of assembly members; Party Excos and elders and other party members.
