A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has departed the Police Force Headquarters after he was invited by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris.
Fani-Kayode, who had earlier indicated he would honour the police invitation on Tuesday, described the interraction with the police as a “cordial interview.” He added that, “the police were courteous and professional.”
Fani-Kayode posted on Facebook that “I was invited because of an essay titled: ‘Five Useful Idiots and The Spirit Of The Accursed Slave’, which was about Fulani hegemony and terrorism together with other write-ups. No regrets. I will hit harder and write more.”
Following an invitation from the police last week, the former minister had approached a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking an order declaring the letter of invitation as “unlawful, unjustifiable, illegal and unconstitutional.”
His counsel, Kayode Ajulo, asked the court to declare that in accordance with the 1999 Constitution, he cannot be so invited by law enforcement agents for undisclosed reasons and without adequate notice.
The former Aviation minister informed the court that the invitation letter was so vaguely constructed that “I became apprehensive and concerned about the intentions of the Nigerian Police.”
