Children’s Day: MTN celebrates Nigeria’s ‘bright’ future leaders

As young ones across the world mark the International Children’s Day today, Nigeria’s telecom giant, MTN Nigeria, has tasked parents and guardians to look into the welfare and inherent potential of their children, “who are vital in achieving the success of any country.”

In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday, the telecom service provider said it celebrated the season with pupils of St. George Primary School, Ikoyi in Lagos.

It quoted the CEO, MTN Nigeria, Mr. Ferdi Moolman, saying: “When we think of Children’s Day, we think of one key word – Bright.”

“Bright describes the future that we are trying to build together and it also describes your future. We believe that your future is bright and because of that, I say to you – stay confident, stay focused and always believe in yourself,” Moolman urged the children.

It added that Mr Moolman was accompanied by other MTN executives and staff, who spent time engaging with the teachers and children of the school and also distributed gifts.

He urged Nigerians to always appreciate teacher’s efforts “for their indispensable role in shaping our future leaders.”

Also speaking at the event, the Human Resource Executive, MTN Nigeria, Esther Akinnukawe, said “Beyond our gathering here today, across our service centres and office locations, we are also celebrating Children’s Day and sharing the same message that we are sharing with you today – you are the future and we believe in you.”

In their separate remarks, the administrators and teachers of St. George’s Primary School commended MTN Nigeria for the outreach.
