CAN tasks govt on security challenges

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called both the federal and state governments to be proactive in addressing the growing security issues bedevilling the country in recent times. 

The Chairman of Kogi State Chapter of CAN, Bishop John Ibenu who spoke in Lokoja during the second plenary of the association, said the security agencies in the country must step up their efforts to tackle the menace of insurgency, kidnapping, armed robbery and farmers/herders clashes.

He said there was need the for the government to involve CAN in its regular security meetings so as to brief its followers appropriately and also see way of collaborations with government and security agencies in addressing crimes. 

Bishop Ibenu also appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on federal roads, especially those linking the North Central to southern states that have become death traps to many commuters.
