Katsina state government on Monday announced a budget proposal of N211.4b for its 2018 fiscal year.
 
Of The proposed budget, N51.4 is for recurrent expenditure while N160b is meant for capital expenditure.
 
The 2018 proposal which is higher than that of 2017 by N71.3b is to be financed from expected N10.2b Internally Generated Revenues, N26.2b ‘other Internal Revenue’ and N131.1b Revenue Receivable through the Federation Account.
 
Presenting the proposal before the state House of Assembly, Governor Aminu Masari said Education sector with N42,4b, tops sectoral allocation followed by Health with N23,8b, Water Resources N19b, Agriculture N14.1b, while Roads and Environment got N23.5b and N11.3 respectively.
 
Tagged “The Budget of Actualization”, Masari said it is designed to actualize the plans, programmes and policies of the present administration through its Restoration agenda.
 
Masari said, it is important to note that the State Government is currently negotiating with Islamic Development Bank through the Federal Ministry of Finance in respect of a Soft Loan and grant to finance a four year project under the Health Sector Reform Plan of the State Government.
 
To that effect, he said, a provision of N9.1Billion is reflected in the 2018 budget estimates pending the actual formalization of the agreement.
 
In his remarks, the Speaker of the state assembly Abubakar Kusada promised to give the budget a speedy passage to enable early implementation.
