Abubakar Umaru Jibrilla, the younger brother to Governor Muhammadu Jibrilla has denied being awarded contract worth N2 billion by the Adamawa State government.
In an interview with newsmen in Yola, Abubakar debunked speculations that his firm, Muraj Property Development Limited had abandoned a N2 billion road project after collecting payment.
The Adamawa State House of Assembly had last week threatened to issue warrant of arrest on the governor’s brother and two other contractors for failing to honour the House’ invitation over allegation of shoddy execution of the road project.
But Abubakar maintained that the firm was awarded N45 million contract out of the N2 billion World Bank assisted rural road projects, saying his company had since completed its portion of the project.
“I need to make this clear because speculations are making the round, particularly in the social media that the governor’s brother has collected N2 billion contract and did not deliver. We have completed the 7.8 kilometer road from Pakka to Humbutudi that we are handling and we are waiting for the house committee to come and see. Already, a committee from the Ministry had visited the site and certified the job,” Abubakar said.
