390 youths benefit from IFAD agric support programme

A total of 390 young men and women are to get trained and supported under the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Climate Change Adaptation and Agribusiness Support Programme (CASP) in Nigeria.

The programme was aimed at addressing food security and unemployment among youths in the seven IFAD intervention states in the northern part of the country including Jigawa, Borno, Yobe, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi states, IFAD National Coordinator, Alhaji Lawal Ida disclosed.

He stated this in Sokoto Monday at the opening ceremony of Training of N-Agriprenuers on Business plan for 126 youths drawn from Sokoto and Kebbi States.

"126 young men and females were selected from this axis to participate in the training with 72 from Sokoto and 54 from kebbi state and each will be supported with counterpart fund to enhance Agricultural show in the country," he stated.

The National Coordinator who was represented by N-Agribusiness specialist officer of the fund, Mr. Achem Bello urged the participants to ensure judicious utilization of the gesture in improving their lives and their respective communities.
