In an era where women participation is gaining grounds, lot of women now aspire to thrive in their business like the male counterparts. A lot of them however are not enlightened on what strategy to employ and the few who know face the challenge of getting to stay successful and dominate in their chosen fields.
Business promotion can be a tedious and a tiring task because it requires certain level of creativity and resource mobilization. Women’s active participation in business is however paramount because they are largely responsible for the family and in some cases singlehandedly providing for the home were the husbands are jobless.
A business development expert on Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs) Mrs. Margaret Joshua, highlighted that having a market for business is paramount. “Produce what people really need which will attract quick turn over, not what you want to market. All of this is achievable by doing a market survey.” she says.
She advised business women to be innovative, creative and dynamic.
“Get yourselves organized in co-operatives to be informed by people with the same business idea who can give hints when government or philanthropist extends donations to co-operatives.”
She further added that women should have adequate financial literacy, meaning that they should be able to keep their book and also know the difference between home and business money to ensure they are not spending their business money. She advised women to have a long term goal for their businesses as well.
