A Federal High Court in Jos yesterday granted bail to a miner, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu alias Dan China, 16 Chinese nationals and nine other Nigerians, who were arraigned by the federal government over alleged illegal mining.

Justice Kurya also ordered that as pre-condition, the sureties must drop their international passports with the court’s Registrar.

The bail was awarded by the court following to an application submitted by the defendants’ counsels, Mr Paul Erokoro (SAN), Joseph Danboyi and Gyang Zi during the last sitting on March 28.

The Federal Government had on August 14, 2017 sued the defendants on a four-count charge of illegal mining in Zurak of Wase Local Government, Plateau State.

During the sitting yesterday, the judge dismissed the argument by the prosecuting counsel that Dan China and other defendants posed threat to security and may jump bail. He adjourned the case to 28th June for continuation of hearing.
