It was a day and performance to forget for the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side Enyimba International yesterday after the Aba side lost 0-3 to Congo side, Cara Brazzaville in their second 2018 CAF Confederation Cup group game.
Enyimba began the game brilliantly and within 12 minutes, the People’s Elephant could have been 2 goals up but failed to take their chances.
However, from the 13th minute, the home side turned the game on and in the 14th minute, Racine Louamba reacted quickest to the rebound after a Dauda save, and headed home.
Things began to go from bad to worse for the Nigerian team as they conceded two more goals within five minutes in the first half at the Stade Alphonse Massemba-Débat.
Cabawey Mereves Kivutuka doubled the lead for Cara in the 17th minute while Dicha Bomanyae Liema scored the third for the hosts in the 19th minute which they held on to till the end of the game.
The two-time African champions are the only NPFL side in the CAF competitions and won their group stage opener 2-0 against Djoliba.
Following this loss, Enyimba have three points from their opening two fixtures as they prepare for the two-legged match against AC Willamsville of Ivory Coast.
The 2015 NPFL champions were drawn alongside Willamsville of Ivory Coast, Cara Brazzaville of Congo and Malian side Djoliba.
