FEC okays N1.3bn for dam in Bauchi

The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved N1.3 billion for the construction of an earth dam irrigation scheme at Gwaranga in Bauchi State.

The Minister of Water Resources, Sulaiman Adamu, stated this while addressing State House correspondents after the cabinet meeting.

The minister noted that it was a constituency project expected to be completed within two years.

Adamu said the council also approved N719 million for the construction of another constituency project, an 80 meter expanded bridge, in Karu, Nasarawa State.

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, said the FEC ordered the contractors handling the Oron-Calabar section of the East-West road to fast-track the completion of the project.

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, said the council approved €21 million for the procurement of two tug boats for towage purposes on Nigerian waters.

Amaechi said the FEC also approved N703 million for the dredging of water in Baro, in preparation of the readiness of Baro Port.
