Federal might can”t save APC in Kogi – Ex-gov Wada

The immediate past governor of Kogi state, Captain Idris Wada has said that federal might and influence cannot make the All Progressives Congress (APC) win elections in the state come 2019.

Wada spoke on Friday in Lokoja at an award ceremony organised by the forum of former PDP members of Kogi House of Assembly to honour some past and present members of the National and state assembly for their unflinching supports to the PDP.

He said the abysmal performance of the APC-led government over the last two years in the state has shown that the PDP still remains the best option for the people.

"We were robbed of the last election by the federal power behind the ruling party, but in 2019, we are optimistic that the federal power will be in our favour.

"We must ensure that we put forward people of unquestionable character; we must unite behind whoever wins the primaries and we must not allow elections to divide us", he said.

Also speaking at the event, a former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris (Ibro) said that the people of the state have "tasted the other side of the equation" and have come to realise the party that meant well for them.

"We are confident that the party will return to power in the state next year judging by the enthusiasm with which party members gathered here today. It shows we are ready to return power to the people of the state", he said.

Earlier, the chairman of the forum, Mr Henry Ojuola said the award was to appreciate the steadfastness and commitment of the recipients to the party despite all odds.

The Forum advised its party to discourage impunity and choose credible candidates that can wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2019.

Amongst those that were presented awards include Senator Tunde Ogbeha; PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan; Senator Attai Aidoko, Senator Ahmed Ogembe, Rep Tajudeen Yusuf, Kogi State PDP Chairman, Engr Sam Ohuotu; a posthumous award on late Senator A. T. Ahmed as well as some other PDP lawmakers at both the National and state assembly.
