Kadpoly under lock, as students protest power, water shortage

Angered by the acute shortage of power and water for over five days, the students of Kaduna Polytechnic in protest locked up all the enterances of the main campus at Tudun-wada; barring their fellow students and staff from entering.

The students lamented that there has been no power supply and water in the school since last week Saturday, which they said had made live difficult for them.

All the enterances to the Polytechnic was crowded as both staff and students tried to find their way in, but it was imposible.

Not even the journalists were allowed to enter the campus, as the students threatened to destroy any camera seen taking shots.

No students union leader was available to address the students nor newsmen during the protest.

A 400level student of the Polytechnic who does not want her name mentioned told our reporter that they have been living dirty lives because there is no water to do anything.

"Before now, there is usually no power supply on Saturdays through Sunday evening for the past six month now, we don’t understandl what the problem. Now, for the past five days, no water, noe electricity and everywhere is smelling, even the toilets are nothing to write home about," she lamented.
