Four people have been reported killed and one wounded in an ambush by herdsmen in Bakin Kogi village of Jemaa Local Government of Kaduna State.
The only woman among the victims of the attack and who was severely injured, sources say, has been taken to a hospital in Kafanchan.
A resident of Bakin Kogi who spoke with our correspondent said the incident happened around 10:00 am on Sunday.
He said the four men and one woman went to tap palm wine at a nearby farm and had successfully done so when herdsmen opened fire at them, killing the four men instantly while they were few meters to their house.
"We were just rounding up from church when we heard gunshots," he said.
The Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mukhtar Aliyu when contacted said he is yet to get full details of the incident.
