Buhari names SSG, Chief of Staff, others

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday made a string of major  appointments including that of  Mr. Babachir David Lawal as Secretary to the Government  of the Federation.
He also appointed a former editor and former bank managing director Alhaji Abba Kyari as his Chief of Staff.
The president also appointed Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (rtd.), Comptroller-General, Nigerian Customs Service and Mr. Kure Martin Abeshi, Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service.
Also appointed are Senator Ita S.J. Enang, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) and Suleiman A. Kawu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, who announced this in a statement yesterday, said all the appointments took effect from yesterday.
The new Secretary to the Government hails from Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
He is a 1979 graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree and worked with the Delta Steel Company, Aladja, Nigerian External Telecommunications Limited and Data Sciences Limited before establishing his own ICT and Telecommunications consulting firm in 1990.
 He is also a member of the Nigeria Computer Society, the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.
