First batch of Lagos pilgrims airlifted

The airlift of over 3000 pilgrims who are from Lagos State began on Saturday at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

No fewer than 540 of the number made the first batch who were airlifted by Med-view Airline directly to Madinah. The first batch of intending pilgrims left the airport in the morning while the second aircraft took off in the afternoon.

The Airline last Sunday flagged off the airlift of Pilgrims for the 2015 pilgrimage beginning with pilgrims from Ogun, Oyo and Osun state.

Over 9000 pilgrims are to be airlifted by the Airline from Lagos zone which has the highest number; Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Edo, the Air force, covering the south-west while about 1000 would be airlifted from Maiduguri, Bornu state, as well as some South-south and south-east states.

The airlift of Lagos pilgrims is expected to end on Wednesday,  according to the Managing Director of the airline, Alhaji Muneer Bankole.
