Gombe to disconnect defaulters from water supply

Gombe State government has appointed high powered tax force to embark on water pipe disconnection for defaulters.
General Manager Gombe Water Corporation, Malam Isa Mohammed, stated this yesterday while speaking with reporters in Gombe. He said the state government is spending huge amount of money per annum for treatment of chemicals as well as other expenses that make the state to have sustainable potable water supply.
“it’s unfortunate that the state government hardly realizes N20 million per annum as bill, while other states in the country realize N80 to N100 million monthly, and they are not spending as much as Gombe is spending because of the nature of their treatment plant,” he said.
He said the worst part of it is that whenever their treatment plant develops a problem, which leads to scarcity of water in the metropolis, people go to their office and complain that they spend about N20 to N30, 000 between the period of one week or 10 days on water.
“But they hardly pay a bill of N1, 000, in three years. If you talk to them, they will say that is the dividend of democracy,” he said.
