The road linking Jigawa-Maiduguri-Bauchi-Gombe and communities in Birnin-Kudu and Gwaram local government areas of Jigawa State is on the verge of collapse, as a result of erosion caused by heavy down pour, Daily Trust gathered.
Rep Magaji Da’u Aliyu (Birnin-Kudu- Buji) led officials of Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and newsmen to inspect the road.
“As you can see, erosion resulting from heavy rainfall in the past few weeks has destroyed the culvert connecting both ends of the road. The shoulder of the road has also collapsed and washed out. Something has to be done fast to avert total collapse of this major road,” he said.
The Jigawa State FERMA Coordinator, Engineer Aliyu Muhammad said they have visited the site and are currently compiling report to submit to their headquarters for further action.
