Buhari orders tight security at IDPs camps

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed authorities to tighten security measures in all camps harbouring internally displaced persons in the country.

The president, in a statement tonight by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Mallam Garba Shehu, said this had become necessary to guard against a recurrence of yesterday’s explosion at Malkohi IDPs camp near Yola, Adamawa state.

The presidential aide said the president equally condemned as heinous and cowardly yesterday’s bomb blast at the Malkohi IPDs camp which resulted in loss of lives.

According to him, Buhari noted that the terrorists are bent on causing fear and panic among the populace by detonating bombs within soft spots where hapless citizens reside.

Shehu quoted the president as saying that citizens not be deterred, but rise in unison to root out whatever was left of the terrorists in their midst.

"We must not let the desperate and evil-minded criminals have any respite. There’s now an urgent need for all to be, by paying utmost attention to security issues at all levels – home, work, market, places of worship, schools, etc. 

"To defeat terrorism, all hands round the clock vigilence is called for. country’s security agents with vital information to pre-empt and prevent crimes and to forestall further insurgent activities", Buhari said.
